Class Description

Please be noted that this is a semester course of 15 weeks starting from Jan 12 to May 11, 2019(Spring 2019)
Prequesite: completed Intro to Python  
Reference Book: Python Data Science Handbook, 2016, by Jake VanderPlas
This course is intended for those who have taken an introductory Python Programming course. Students will learn the most common Python data science modules such as numpy, matplotlib and pandas and use these modules for data analysis and visualization to solve complex real world problems. This course lays a solid foundation for studying machine learning in Python. Students must bring a laptop to the class, preferably a Windows PC, though a Mac will be fine.

About the Instructor
Dr. Xianjin Yang is a scientist in a world-class research institution for last 9 years. He also spent 8 years in a small technology company as Chief Scientist and scientific programmer on the development of commercial scientific modeling software. He writes Python, Matlab and C++ codes for numerical modeling, signal processing and scientific data analysis.  He has been
teaching Python Programming at San Ramon Valley Chinese School since Fall 2017.
