Class Description

Estimate: 20 lessons for whole school year (Gym is not available on Jan and Feb)

Please be noted that each participating student is required to purchase a game Jercey and Short for playing game with other teams or even tournament. The cost will be around $50 and will be collected on the 1st class day.

During this class, the students will have an opportunity to practice in a team exercises. They will have numerous group drills and the chance to compete in a real game environment. Throughout the advanced training, the students will have an experience to enhance their fundamentals and the concept of the game. One-on-one skills are also taught. The students who wish to attend this class should have passed the beginner level and have some level of basketball skill and confidence to compete in a game.

•Regular Warm-up ( ~ 5 min) -making your body ready
•Fundamentals (5 ~ 10 min) –focus on speed, vertical jump and lateral quickness
•Pair Lay-ups and Jump Shot (5 ~ 10min) –being able to score with confidence and right position/timing
•Competitive 1-on-1 & 3-on-3 Drills (5 ~ 10 min) –developing individual offense and defense skills
•Team Game (20 ~ 30 min) –emphasizing moving without ball and team screening, passing/dribbling in real game, team offense/defense techniques and team trust and friendship

About the coach:
• Dr. Kevin J. Zhang, a silicon-valley fiber-optic engineer with 5-years Basketball teaching experience and a trained member of NYSCA.
• He played “professional” basketball in mid-70s in China;  As a captain and played as a point guard he led his University Basketball Team won the State Championships three years consecutively
• "Basketball is not only a physical intensive and mental hardship game, but it also exercise your brain work and social skill. It reflects a real life! I want to teach the younger generation that all they have to do is to aim high, work hard, and never give up."
